Lynden Morris Stevens, age 85, of Bluebank Road, Morehead, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 22, 2014, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born April 14, 1929, in Farmers, he was a son of the late Harry and Olive Tyree Stevens. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Lloyd 'Bud' Stevens and Gene Sidney 'Sid' Stevens, and one sister, Norma June Brammer. Lynden is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judy Elaine Moore Stevens, whom he wed August 9, 1958; one son, Tim Stevens of Morehead; one daughter, Tammy Fannin and husband Jeff of Morehead; six grandchildren, Shane and wife Emily Stevens, Sara Fannin, Hana Fannin, Todd Fannin, Jason and wife Jennifer Marie Fannin, and Jeremy and wife Denise Weger Fannin; nine great grandchildren, Sawyer Lynden Stevens, Jayme Ann, Jonathan Cole, Ani Bella, Jasmine Rose, Jadelin Nicole, Jaylie Marie, Journey Faith, and Jaxon Paul Fannin; one sister, Theda Craig of Farmers; and daughter-in-law, MaryAnn Stevens of Morehead. Lynden, a U.S. Army veteran, served his country in Germany during the Korean War. Upon his return, he was a self-employed logger and later became a surveyor who helped in the construction of I-64 and then Cave Run Lake. He also assisted in the design stages of Lakeview Heights with Donahue Construction and worked as a carpenter with Packs Inc. He was a school bus driver during the fifties and sixties for the Rowan County School system and always enjoyed farming, gardening, and serving the Lord. Lynden was saved on April 5, 1970, and was of the First Church of God faith. He was a devout Christian who loved to witness his experiences with Christ in his daily life. Lynden and his family were well known in various local churches and in several states for their gospel music as 'The Stevens Family' and 'Family of God' singers. He was a faithful member of the Bluebank First Church of God, where he had served on the Board and in various other capacities. Lynden was a Christian and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, church family, and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Bro. Mark Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers: Ken Mullins, John Perkins, Tom McCarty, Richard Engle, Wayne McKinniss, Chris Williams, Josh Barker, and Tom Woods Honorary pallbearers: Brothers of the Bluebank First Church of God Visitation is from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Sunday, August 24, 2014, from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral: Monday, August 25, 2014, at 11 a.m. Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens
