Obituary

Lyda Mae Stapleton Stevens, age 80, of Big Woods Road, Morehead, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at her residence. Born June 8, 1934, in Olive Hill, she was a daughter of the late Warren and Mettie Williams Stapleton. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Stevens, in 1998; three sons, William Robert Stevens, Kevin Ray Stevens, and Andrew Clay Stevens; one sister, Imogene Henderson; and one brother, Tommy Stapleton. Mrs. Stevens is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Trish and Walt Riddle of Morehead, Paula and Ollie Ferguson of Morehead, and Linda and Jeff Watson of Wallingford; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Tonya) Watson, Cody Riddle, Brittany (Shane) Abbott, and Brandon Watson, all of Morehead, Chase Watson and Braden Watson, both of Wallingford; seven great grandchildren, Isaac, Dakota, Makayla, Alexis, and Jayla Watson, Madison Hurst, and Shania Abbott; and expecting a great granddaughter, Hannah Mae Watson in May. Also surviving are three sisters, Sarah Duncan of Olive Hill, Pauline Johnson and Priscilla Littleton, both of Morehead; three brothers, Paul Stapleton, Mack Stapleton, and Charlie Stapleton, all of Marion, Indiana; a host of step grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and extended family members. Lyda was a homemaker and former employee of Holiday Inn. She attended the Holly Fork Free Will Baptist Church and enjoyed working puzzles books, flower gardening, U.K. basketball, and Cincinnati Bengals and Reds. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Jim Porter and Brother Monroe Craig officiating. Burial will follow at Newell Cemetery in Grahn. Pallbearers: Jeremy Watson, Brandon Watson, Brian 'Chase' Watson, Braden Watson, Charles Ray Henderson, and Paul Henderson, Jr. Honorary pallbearers: Brittany Abbott, Cody Riddle, and Lee Littleton. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Friday, January 9, 2015, 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral: Saturday, January 10, 2015, at 1 p.m. Interment: ewell Cemetery, Grahn, Kentucky
