Luther C. Blankenship, age 81, of Phelps, KY, passed away Monday, May 25, 2020, at his residence.

Born September 5, 1938, at Jamboree, in Pike County, he was a son of the late Cloyd and Edith Jane Blankenship.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Blankenship and Randy Blankenship; his first wife, Laxie Ramey Blankenship; and his second wife, Tina K. Jones Blankenship.

Luther is survived by one son, Marty Blankenship of Morehead; two daughters, Teresa Blankenship of Morehead and Susan "Susie" Jones and husband Donnie of West Liberty; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and one sister, Patricia Blankenship of Pike County, as well as extended family and friends.

Luther was a former employee of the Ford Motor Company in Lorain, Ohio, the City of Morehead, and the Morehead Utility Plant Board.  An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and received numerous trophies in golfing and bowling.  He also enjoyed Bingo and all types of card games.  He loved family, especially his grandchildren, and will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Tony Glover officiating.  Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.

COVID-19 restrictions will be observed.
