Lula Beatrice 'Bea' Gregory Cox, age 82, of Maxey Flat Road, Hillsboro, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family. Born October 28, 1934, at Sharkey in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late James Matthew and Mary Tennie Caudill Gregory. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Lloyd, Dorsie, Sam, and Charles Gregory, and five sisters, Olive Harris, Lena Eldridge, Elsie Gregory, Delphia Cox, and Margie Branham. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Elbert Cox, whom she married August 1, 1953; three sons, David Cox (Suzanne), Paul Cox (Denise), and James Cox (Michelle), all of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Miranda Rowe (Chris), Julie Cox, Matthew Cox (Morgan), and Steven Cox, all of Hillsboro; and six great grandchildren. Other survivors include three brothers, Lonnie Gregory (Hester) of Morehead, Willie Gregory and Larry Gregory, both of Hillsboro; several nieces and nephews; and many friends and neighbors. She also leaves behind her wonderful caregivers who have given her such special care over the past several years, Margie Combs, Shawanna Harris, Minnie Caudill, and the late Bonita Gregory. Bea worked for St. Claire Regional Medical Center in the ICU unit and home health for many years. She enjoyed taking care of her patients and loved her job. She was a member of Little Mary Baptist Church and enjoyed being outdoors, watching birds, gardening, and all things about nature. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jared DeAtley and Brother Willie Skaggs, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Little Mary Cemetery on Maxey Flat. Pallbearers: Matthew Cox, Steven Cox, John Cox, Roger Cox, Kevin Blankenbeckler, and Bill Thompson. Visitation is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
