Lucia Carolyn Boland Parr, 59, of N. Wilson Avenue, Morehead, passed away June 17, 2015, at her home. Born December 19, 1955, in Kennett, Missouri, she was a daughter of Emmett Marion and Carolyn Goodson Boland. Her parents and a daughter, Bethany Parr, preceded her in death. Lucy is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Eugene Quincy Parr, Jr. and their daughters and sons-in-law, Jenny Parr Robbins and Chris of Morehead and Christy Parr Byrum and Brad of Louisville, and five grandchildren, Sallie and Boone Robbins and Caroline, Emma Joan, and Luke Byrum. Other survivors include brothers, Charlie Boland (Nancy) of Lexington and Ed Boland of San Francisco, California; a sister, Melissa Boland of Lexington; and nieces; extended family; and dear friends. At age 12, Lucy and her parents moved from New Albany, Mississippi, to Lexington, where she graduated from Lafayette High School and earned her B. A. degree from the University of Kentucky. Lucy and Gene moved to Morehead in 1982 where they raised their family. Lucy also served as the Administrative Secretary at First Baptist Church for 25 years and following her retirement worked as a freelance editor. Lucy was witty, smart, and fun to be around. She found joy in supporting her daughters and their many endeavors. She loved reading, writing and spending time with her five grandchildren who adored their 'MaeMae.' She enjoyed serving those around her, comforting others, and praying for those in need. Lucy was a devoted wife to her husband Gene and very supportive of his work as a campus minister. Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Morehead First Baptist Church with Dr. Don Mantooth officiating. Burial will follow at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens in Lexington at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Pallbearers: Chris Robbins, Brad Byrum, Jeff Parr, Christopher Parr, Charlie Boland, and Ed Boland.
