Obituary

Lovel Lemaster Blankenbeckler, age 96, left the comfort of her home in Elliott County, Kentucky, for the Glory of her new home in Heaven early in the morning on May 30, 2012. Lovel was born July 16, 1915, in Carter County, Kentucky, and spent a happy childhood at Brinegar with her parents, John and Laura McDaniel Lemaster. After her marriage to Charlie Blankenbeckler on June 19, 1936, at Ordinary, Kentucky, the couple settled in Elliott County to raise a family. Mrs. Blankenbeckler was preceded in death by her parents as well as her best friend and husband Charlie, who passed away November 9, 2004; her precious daughter, Jewel Dean; and two beloved sons-in-law, Charles Skaggs and Lonnie Ray Skaggs. In her lifetime, Lovel also suffered the loss of three sisters, Hazel Carter, Isolene Blankenbeckler, and Hildreth Lemaster; three brothers, Ivan Lemaster, Olan Lemaster, and Johnny Lemaster; and two special cousins, Virgil Bair and Zadie Johnson, whom she considered her brother and sister as well. Before her own passing, Lovel lost three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Lovel is survived by one daughter, Joyce Blankenbeckler Skaggs; 8 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 29 great-great grandchildren; and countless other family members and friends whose lives intertwined with hers. A devoted homemaker, Lovel also enjoyed quilting, reading, gardening, and spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a strong-willed, quick-witted, intelligent, and kind woman by her family, friends and neighbors from miles around. Those who knew her will never forget her, as her memory will remain in our hearts forever. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 2, 2012, at noon at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Austin Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Lemaster-Holbrook Cemetery on Beartown Ridge. Pallbearers will be Eric Parsons, Rocky Parsons, Tony Blankenbeckler, Rickey Skaggs, Jay Skaggs, and Wendell Skaggs. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Boggs, Donald Skaggs, Garrett Simmons, and Darren Skaggs. Visitation is 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Friday, June 1, 2012, from 6 - 9 p.m. Funeral: Saturday, June 2, 2012, at noon Interment: Lemaster-Holbrook Cemetery
