Louise Adkins Gilbert, age 87, of Lake City, Florida, formerly of Morehead, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018, at Haven Hospice Lake City in Lake City, Florida. She was born August 21, 1931, in Mann, West Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Hattie Nickells Adkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas Edwin Gilbert; a daughter, Patricia Myers; and several brothers and sisters. Her husband, Claude Ellis Gilbert, also preceded her in death on March 3, 2004. She is survived by two sons, William Claude Gilbert of Lake City, Florida, and Ellis Edwin Gilbert of Palmetto, Florida; three daughters, Virginia Pearl Stephenson, Edith Fay Blankenship and Nancy Jane Gilbert, all of Dalton, Georgia; one sister, Edith Adkins Hale of Morehead; 13 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Louise was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her flower garden. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel in Morehead with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson - Epperhart Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
