Louise Sloan Adkins, age 71, of Crum Road, Morehead, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2019, at her home. Born June 26, 1947, at Elliottville in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Melvin and Ellen Trent Sloan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, infant Melvin, Jr., infant Glennis, Fonza, Lonnie, Harold, Kenneth, and Dennis Sloan, and six sisters, infant Della Sloan, Audrey Pennington, Ivory Crose, Eula Conley, Stella Fraley, and Ilene DeHart. Louise is survived by her husband of 50 years, Cecil "Tookie" Adkins, whom she married August 17, 1968; one daughter, Nancy (Newt, Jr.) Stevens; one grandson, Jesse Burton (Haylie), all of Morehead; three great grandsons, Hayden, Parker, and Cameron Burton; seven step grandsons, Shawn (Bonnie) Stevens, Christopher (Beth) Stevens, Joshua (Becki) Stevens, Jason (Ashley) Stevens, Timothy (Holly) Stevens, Daniel (Erika) Stevens, and Jonathan (Tiffany) Stevens; and 18 step grandchildren. Other survivors include two sisters, Guyan (Omer) Mabry and Maxine DeHart, both of Morehead; one brother, Richard (Rose Ann) Sloan of Olive Hill; two special nieces, Brenda DeHart and Debra Smith; other extended family members and friends. She retired from Cowden Manufacturing Company and was a homemaker. Louise was a Christian and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her great grandsons, Hayden, Parker, and Cameron. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Monroe Craig officiating. Burial will follow in the Trent Cemetery on Rainbow Road. Pallbearers: Jesse Burton, Tim Stevens, Jonathan Stevens, Jason Stevens, Shawn Stevens, Josh Stevens, Daniel Stevens, and Chris Stevens.
