Loretta Conn Smedley, age 76, of U.S. 60 West, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, April 6, 2009, at her residence. She was born November 19, 1932, in Elliott County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Harve and Stella Caudill Conn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Galen E. Conn, who passed away January 29, 2003. Mrs. Smedley is survived by her husband, James L. Smedley; two sons, Jerry Smedley and wife Judy of Jacksonville, Florida, and Bobby D. Smedley of Morehead, Kentucky; five grandchildren, David York, John Smedley, Jennifer Manning, Jason Wells, and Andy Wells; and nine great grandchildren, Alex, Sage, Logan and Eric York, Jayde, Jordyn, and Samuel Smedley, and Jonas and Jaxon Wells. Mrs. Smedley was a former cashier at Big Lots for 12 years. She enjoyed her flowers and gardening. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gary Madden officiating. Burial will follow at the Clearfield Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andy Wells, John Smedley, Jason Wells, Randy Day, Wendall Pernell, and Ron Sheeter.
