Lorene Nickles Fraley, age 79, of Morehead, KY passed away Monday, May 10, 2010, at her residence following an extended illness. Born June 12, 1930, at Stark, KY, in Elliott County, she was the daughter of Buddie and Grace Holbrook Nickles. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Clyde Nickles, and sister, Lois Jean Caudill. Lorene is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Howard L. Fraley, whom she wed May 30, 1957; two children, H. Thomas (Leigh Ann) Fraley of North Berwick, Scotland, and Melissa A. (Anthony) Ross of Lexington, KY; two grandchildren, Katherine Leigh (Ben) Fischer of Omaha, NE and Joshua Tate Ross of Lexington, KY; one great-grandchild, Audrey Leigh Fischer of Omaha, NE; two sisters, Madeline Miller of Grayson, KY and Maxine Duvall of Fairborn, OH; a close cousin, Ilene Ison of Elliott County, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lorene-s family is very grateful for her three precious caregivers: Beverly Sanders, Crystal Priess, and Cheryl Wilson. Lorene was a graduate of Elliott County High School and attended Morehead State University. She taught school in Elliott County, had been a bookkeeper for Grayson RECC, and was an Avon representative. She and her husband Howard have lived in Morehead for nearly 16 years after residing in Ashland, KY for 37 years. Lorene was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her Lord and served Him faithfully. She was a prayer warrior and an over comer. Lorene was a loyal member of the Johnson First Church of God in Morehead. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. H. Thomas Fraley officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Morehead. Pallbearers: Joshua Ross, Tony Ross, Ben Fischer, Tim Caudill, Jack Miller, and Mick Miller. Honorary Pallbearers: Randy Duvall, Gary Duvall, Phillip Fraley, and Ronnie Fraley. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY.
