Loraine Davis Alfrey, age 73, of South Mill Branch, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2008, at her residence. She was born September 6, 1935, in Rowan County, Kentucky, to the late Lonnie M. and Emma Alice Jones Davis. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Delbert and Lonnie M. Davis, Jr. and nine sisters, Geneva, Lillian, Juanita, Bertha, Lela, Clela, Josephine, Jewell, and Mildred. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Allen Alfrey on November 16, 1989, and one son, Kenneth Wade Alfrey on September 6, 1998. Mrs. Alfrey is survived by two sons, James Allen Jr. (Mary) Alfrey and Robert Lee (Rebecca) Alfrey both of Morehead, Kentucky; one daughter, Cherlyn Kay (Steven) Bridenthal of Clearfield, Kentucky; and seven grandchildren, Charles Aaron Alfrey, Erika Dawn Alfrey, Kaitlin Marie Alfrey, James Allen Alfrey III, Eva Jane Alfrey, Kendra May Alfrey, and Faith LaRae Alfrey. Mrs. Alfrey was a homemaker, private caregiver, and St. Claire Hospice volunteer. She loved her children and grandchildren and especially enjoyed family gatherings. She was a member of the Morehead First Apostolic Church. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Bro. Kenny Binion officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Cemetery. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Claire Hospice, 222 Medical Circle, Morehead, KY 40351 or Morehead First Apostolic Church Building Fund, 2750 U.S. 60 West, Morehead, KY 40351.
