Lonnie Gregory, 80, of Morehead, KY, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by his family on May 20, 2017. Lonnie was born April 12, 1937, to Matthew and Mary Tennie (Caudill) Gregory in Morehead. Lonnie served two years in the U.S. Army as military police and was awarded the Sharpshooter's Medal. When he returned home on leave, he met his beloved bride, Hester Tuttle, and they married on March 19, 1960. They had three beautiful children, Tammi, Darwin, and Regina. He managed Morehead Cable TV System for several years before starting his own cable companies in Pine Hills and Mount Olivet. He served as President of the Morehead Chamber of Commerce and the KY Cable Association. He established Morehead Electric in 1984, where he served as President. Lonnie was the pastor of Little Mary Baptist Church for over 30 years. He was extremely dedicated to the church which was named after his mother. In his spare time, Lonnie loved to fish on Lake Okeechobee and operate his bulldozer, building lakes on his farm. For the past nine years, he enjoyed the company of his dog Sugar who always brought a smile to his face. Lonnie is survived by his beloved wife Hester of 57 years; daughter Tammi (Michael) Spurlock; son Darwin (Aleshi) Gregory; daughter Regina Roberts, Lannie (Shelia) McKee; brother Willie Gregory; grandchildren, Tara (Matt) Barnhart, Cassidi Spurlock, Alexis Spurlock, Matthew Gregory, and Lily Roberts, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Lonnie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Mary Tennie Gregory; five brothers: Lloyd, Sam, Dorsey, Charles, Larry; and six sisters: Olive Harris, Lena Eldridge, Elsie Black, Margie Branham, Delphia Cox and Bea Cox. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals on Monday, May 22, 2017, and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at Little Mary Baptist Church. Funeral services for Lonnie will be held at Little Mary Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Elder Coy Tolliver and Elder Jason Varney. Lonnie will be laid to rest at the Little Mary Cemetery on Maxey Flat Road in Fleming County with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers: Andy Roberts, Dewayne Gregory, Matt Barnhart, Matthew Gregory, Rodney Gregory, Randy Trent, Darwin Gregory, and Dr. Michael Spurlock. Honorary pallbearer: Tony Smith In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Prince of Peace Home for Girls Orphanage, P. O. Box 1344, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353 or the Community Soup Kitchen, 3103 Flemingsburg Road, Morehead, KY 40351 Visitation: Monday, May 22, 2017, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m, Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals and Tuesday, 10 a.m. at church Funeral: Tuesday, May 23, 2017, 11 a.m., Little Mary Baptist Church, Maxey Flat Road Interment: Little Mary Cemetery, Maxey Flat Road, Fleming County
