Lois Williams Carter, age 86, of Lexington, Kentucky, formerly of Skaggs Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the Preston Greens Senior Living Community in Lexington.

Born January 25, 1938, in Clearfield, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Clester and Juanita Campbell Williams.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patty Anne Williams of Clearfield, Kentucky.

Lois is survived by one son, Dr. Alan Bruce Carter and his wife Christy of Lexington, Kentucky, and two granddaughters, Sydney Carter and Riley Carter, both of Lexington, Kentucky.

Lois retired from the Rowan County Board of Education where she worked as a teacher, guidance counselor and school administrator.  She was a longtime member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Morehead where she served in several capacities including church treasurer.  She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Morehead Chapter #227, for many years. Lois enjoyed reading, crafts, church activities, and spending time with friends and family.  She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Joey Damron officiating.  Burial will follow in the Williams-Turner Cemetery in Elliottville, Kentucky.

Pallbearers:  Allan Fiel, Scott Dobler, Ronnie "Jack" Brooks, John Northcutt, Bart Williams, and Mike Breeze.

Visitation for Lois Williams Carter will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to First Free Will Baptist Church, 500 Bluestone Road, Morehead, KY 40351.
