Lindon David Mabry, age 87, of Mainville, Ohio, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.
Born December 16, 1938, in Portsmouth, Ohio, he was a son of the late Phillip McKinley Mabry and Hazel Williams Mabry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Mabry, and two sisters, Lillian Roberts and Leota Walters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Patricia Ann Gilbert Mabry; four children, Debbie Shields of Huber Heights, Ohio, Teresa Rupert of New Lebanon, Ohio, Linda Jewett (Tony) of Farmersville, Ohio, and Patricia Buxton (Todd) of New Lebanon, Ohio; and one stepdaughter, Deena Edward (Curt) of Maineville, Ohio.
Other survivors include nine grandchildren, Joshua, Lindsey, Ethan, Taylor, Madison, Jordan, Brett, Caleb, and Paden; eight great-grandchildren, August, Ruby, Theodore, Tatum, Thomas, Finn, Peter Lindon, and Ivy; and two great-great-grandchildren, Ian and Mayebell.
He is also survived by three brothers, Dale Mabry of Morehead, Homer Mabry of Sharkey, and Glenn Mabry of New Lebanon, Ohio; and three sisters, Lela McGuire of Union, Ohio, Erma Jean Brickey of Fort Myers, Florida, and Shirley Blevins of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Lindon proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a very patriotic man. He retired from General Motors, where he worked as a toolmaker. After retirement, he returned to Kentucky and settled in Flemingsburg, where he drove a school bus for Flemingsburg County Schools for many years, continuing until his health forced him to retire in his early eighties. In his free time, he enjoyed running, playing softball, and riding motorcycles. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was a member of and attended New Life Church of Christ in Flemingsburg for many years. He formed lasting friendships while attending New Life. He was saved and baptized at New Life, and for that, we are so thankful, knowing that he will be spending eternity with his Lord and Savior.
Lindon leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories shared with family and friends. He was a hardworking, honest, and trustworthy man who instilled these qualities in his family, who, in turn, passed them on to their children. These attributes will continue for many generations.
Lindon will be missed tremendously here on Earth, but we can take comfort in knowing that he is at peace and is enjoying his new heavenly body, free of pain.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2026, at New Life Church of Christ in Flemingsburg, with Dan Bentley and Darren Fizer officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Morehead.
