Obituary

Lillian Sparks Thomas Slone, age 88, of Haldeman Road, Morehead, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Ridgeway Nursing and Rehabilitation in Owingsville. She was born July 1, 1926, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Leburn H. and Hattie Kandice Hall Sparks. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Elbert and Charles Sparks, and three sisters, Lydia Day, Thelma Pelfrey, and Juanita Sparks. Lillian was also preceded in death by her husbands, James Edward Thomas and Lee Slone, and one son, Bruce Edward Thomas. She is survived by one son, Phillip Michael Thomas of Morehead; two daughters, Kathy (Larry R.) Knipp of Morehead and Myra Kay (Ken) Day of Lexington; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Slone was a health care worker for 30 years. She was a member of the Haldeman Church of God where she accepted her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, many years ago. Lillian never stopped witnessing to her family and to anyone else who would hear witness. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Don Rivers and Brother Roy Lands officiating. Burial will follow in New Sill Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Tuesday, January 13, 2015, 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral: Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at 2 p.m. Interment: ew Sill Cemetery
