Obituary

Lillian Madeline Sorrell Wescott, age 90, of Wescott Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2012, at the Life Care Center of Morehead. Born July 26, 1921, at Bluestone, Kentucky, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Allie Young Sorrell and Minnie Bell Warren Sorrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Noah, Lilburn, Leslie, Paul, Ottis, Allie Jr., and Lloyd Sorrell; two sisters, Lennie Poston and Lovell Coldiron; one infant daughter, Teresa Marie Wescott; and one stepson, Nathanial Forrest Wescott. Madeline-s husband of 54 years, Virgil Tea Wescott, passed away December 8, 1991. She is survived by one son, Terry Wescott of Jeffersontown, Kentucky; five daughters, Shasta Conn and husband Virgil, Rita Wescott, Dorthula Alderson and husband Albert, and Danica -Donna- Stamper and husband Buck, all of Morehead, Kentucky, and Mada Poston and husband Estill of Salt Lick, Kentucky; 8 grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren and 7 step great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Herbert Sorrell of Dayton, Ohio, and is known as -Aunt Bee- to many beloved nieces and nephews. Madeline was a certified cook for the Eagles Nest Restaurant, Pine Crest Children-s Home, and Morehead State University. A loyal St. Claire Hospital Foundation supporter, she was a former Nurse Aide and Special Processing Department employee. She was also a dedicated Hospice volunteer for many years and a lifelong member of Slaty Point Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at Slaty Point Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Caldwell and Rev. Rusty Hedrick officiating. Burial will follow in Slaty Point Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
