Obituary

Lillian Charles Harris, age 71, of Turkey Creek Lane, Winchester, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at St. Joseph East Hospital in Lexington. Born September 3, 1942, in Pikeville, she was a daughter of the late Carey and Anna Charles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Leona Warren. Lillian is survived by her husband, George Cecil Harris, whom she married December 18, 1960; one son, George Harris II of Winchester; one grandson, George 'Chip' Harris III of Winchester; two granddaughters, Tonya Trent of Winchester, and Chasaty Smith of Irvine; and 10 great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Karolyn Guy of Winchester, Edna Mae Stratton of Pikeville, and Lil Whaley of Danville, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Harris was a beautician and member of the Spring Street Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling. She loved children and enjoyed cooking and baking. Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014, at Spring Street Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2014, at the church with Pastor John Runyon officiating. Burial will follow in Clarmont Memorial Gardens in Winchester. Pallbearers: Barry Beacraft, Larry May, Larry Rice, Teddy Hughes, Bruce McCarty, and Mitch Allen. Honorary pallbearers: Allie Goodpaster, Vernon Gibbs, Bill Johnson, Jim McCarty, Bruce Young, Mort Reddix, and Cecil Fultz. Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, KY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Spring Street Baptist Church Youth Group, 442 Spring Street, Mt.
