Obituary

Lillian Leona Burton Henderson, age 92, of Rock Fork Road, Morehead, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at her home. Born December 17, 1921, in Rowan County, Leona was a daughter of the late James Melvin and Lillian Margaret Parish Burton. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Ersel D. Henderson, Allen Henderson, and Dallas L. Henderson; and one daughter, Rose E. Henderson; and several siblings. Her husband, Jessie D. Henderson, passed away April 5, 1985. Mrs. Henderson is survived by one son, Jessie I. Henderson of Menifee County; a loving daughter-in-law, Gay Henderson of Morehead, wife of the late Ersel D. Henderson; 9 grandchildren, Michael D. Henderson, Mark A. Henderson, Joey I. Henderson, Jamie L. Henderson, Mary L. Craft, Joyce A. Kuechler, Debbie L. Henderson, Cathy Lewis, and Dora Swary; and 12 great grandchildren. Other survivors include three sisters, Violet Carr of Morehead, Lydia Harper of Alliance, Ohio, and Josephine Carter of Carter County; three loyal friends, Carrie 'Cricket' Stacy, Marie Whitt, and Sandy Henderson; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Henderson was a homemaker and member of Morehead Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, quilting, cooking, and especially spending time with her family. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Shawn McCarty officiating. Burial will follow in Henderson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael D. Henderson, Jamie L. Henderson, Joey I. Henderson, Mikey Henderson, Brandon Stacy, and Daniel Craft. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Henderson, Jonathan Henderson, Coty Stacy, Tommy Stacy, and Derek Craft. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Visitation: Thursday, May 22, 2014, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Friday, May 23, 2014, at 1 p.m. Interment: Henderson Cemetery
