Lester Lee Maples, Jr., age 58, of Hallwood Drive, Morehead, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 10, 2025, at UK–St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born June 15, 1967, in Arlington Heights, Illinois, Lester was the son of the late Lester Lee Maples, Sr., and Villean Mae Caudill Maples. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Pastor Jack Tackett, and a niece, Abigail Tackett.
Lester is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Renee Tackett Maples; two sons, Colton Maples of Mt. Sterling and Cody Maples of Morehead; and one sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Richard Caskey of Morehead.
Other survivors include his mother-in-law, Diane Tackett of Morehead; two sisters-in-law, Jackie Tackett and Teresa Jefferson; one brother-in-law, Jason Tackett and his wife Holly; as well as five nieces and six nephews: Priscilla Howard, Nykalea Tackett, Savannah Jefferson, Annalese Jefferson, Lauren Oakley Tackett, Wyatt Caskey, Lincoln Jefferson, Andrew Tackett, Philip Tackett, Eli Tackett, and Tyion Alderman. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, a host of cousins, and many friends who loved him dearly.
Lester was a former CDL instructor at Maysville Community and Technical College. He was proud to have served as a member of the Haldeman–Hayes Crossing Volunteer Fire Department and as a former member and assistant chief of the Morehead Rescue Squad.
He had a lifelong passion for motorcycles and classic cars—especially Corvettes and square-body Chevy trucks—and enjoyed showing Chevy trucks at local events. Lester also loved riding his Harley and had a special bond with dogs; those who knew him often said he could have been a "dog whisperer." Lester will be remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, and love of family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
