Obituary

Lesli Janell Carroll James, 41, of Highway 36, Olympia, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at UK-St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead, Kentucky, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Born November 23, 1983, in Mansfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of Randall Carroll and the late Linda Sue Hale Carroll.

Lesli is survived by her beloved husband of 16 years, Kenneth "Ken" Robert James, Jr., six cherished children: Reilly, Josiah, Benjamin, Braelyn, Levi, and Russell; her father and stepmother: Randall and Pauline Carroll of Mansfield, Ohio; two sisters: Penny Spillman of Mansfield, Ohio, and Randi Stelter of Paris, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

A devoted wife, loving mother, and faithful servant of God, Lesli dedicated her life to her family and to her savior, Jesus Christ.  Her dearest goal in life, aside from pleasing the Lord, was to have children and pour her love into them, and she did so in amazing ways.  Her love for Jesus, for her family, and for others shone through in everything she did.  Her ready smile would light up a room or a heart like a ray of sunshine, and she brought joy and encouragement to everyone she met.

Diagnosed in 2024 with stage 4 cancer, Lesli never wavered in her faith and could hardly be forced to complain.  Her greatest concern was for her family's needs and loss, even as she herself faced an unthinkable trial.  Throughout her battle with sickness, chemotherapy, and hospital visits, Lesli maintained her desire and heart to bring all glory to God, whether He chose to heal her or not, and that is just what she did.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel in Morehead with Ulysses Walton, Ken Fielder, and Jason Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in James Family Cemetery, 10297 E Hwy 36, Olympia, KY 40358.  Family will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
