Obituary

With deep sadness, the passing of Leo Allen Williams is announced. He passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the age of 84. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Born at home in Bath County, Kentucky, on January 5, 1941, Leo was the son of the late Albert Richard Williams and Clara Marie Maze Williams. He spent his early years in Bath County and Dayton, Ohio, later returning to Bath and Rowan County. He was a graduate of Morehead High School.

On May 11, 1960, he married the love of his life, Linda Dehart. Together they built a life and family, raising three children: Richard, Wendy, and Kristi.

Leo began his career working for J.C. Wells before opening his own garage on US 60 in Blue Stone. Known across the region for his mechanical and welding expertise, Leo was a trusted name to many. He later relocated his home and business to Farmers, Kentucky. A true craftsman and innovator, Leo had a passion for motorcycles, race cars, and airplanes—going so far as to build and fly his own RV-4 aircraft. He contributed his skills to several construction companies as a heavy equipment mechanic and was part of the team that helped build Cave Run Lake. Later in his career, he turned to building custom log homes, several of which stand across the United States. His work was even featured in Log Home Living magazine.

More than anything, Leo was proud of his family, especially his four grandchildren, who were his greatest joy. He spoke often of their accomplishments: two doctors, an aerospace engineer, and a plumber. He was a man of deep integrity, quiet generosity, and tireless energy. He loved life, loved to travel—visiting all 50 states on his motorcycle, and above all, he loved his family. The values he lived by – honesty, hard work, kindness, and devotion – will  continue to live on in his children and grandchildren.

Leo is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Linda Dehart Williams; daughters Wendy Whitt (Gregg) of Salt Lick, and Kristi Lynch (Jim) of Morehead; four grandchildren, Ben Williams, Aaron Whitt, Sara Whitt, and Holly Dickens; a brother, Jack Williams (Joyce); and many beloved extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Richard Williams; a brother, Johnny Williams; and twin sisters, Alene and Geraldene Williams.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Gregg Whitt officiating. Burial will follow at Polksville Cemetery.
