Obituary

Lela Mae Hardy Cooper, age 93, of McMullin Avenue, Flemingsburg, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015, at the Fleming County Hospital in Flemingsburg. Born May 10, 1922, in Poplar Plains, Fleming County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Nannie Craft Hardy. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel Hardy Schwartz. Her husband, Jesse Cooper, whom she married February 16, 1941, preceded her in death in 2004. Mrs. Cooper is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Paul M. and Jackie Cooper of Morehead; three grandchildren, Amy (Chuck) Moertle of Mason, Ohio, Brent (Lisa) Cooper of Ft. Thomas, and Tony Cooper of Morehead; four great grandchildren, Charlie Moertle serving in the U.S. Army, Katie Moertle of Mason, Ohio, and Sydney and Emma Cooper, both of Ft. Thomas; one nephew, Charles (Alice) Schwartz of Frankfort; and one niece, Anita (David) Illingworth of Colorado. Mrs. Cooper was co-owner of Holbrook Drug Store in Morehead until March 2013 and was employed by Lerman Brothers Department Store in Flemingsburg for many years. Mrs. Cooper was a lifelong member of the Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of Rebekah. In 1973, Mrs. Cooper served as president of the Rebekah Assembly of Kentucky. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at the Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church with Pastor Susan L. Elkow officiating. Burial will follow in Fleming County Cemetery. Pallbearers: Tony Cooper, Brent Cooper, Chuck Moertle, David Mullin, John Northcutt, and Dale Carpenter. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, and after 11a.m. Wednesday at the Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church, 117 West Main Street, Flemingsburg. Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Tuesday, September 1, 2015, 5 p.m, Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead; Wednesday, 11 a.m., Flemingsburg First Untied Methodist Church, Flemingsburg Funeral: Wednesday, September 2, 2015, 1 p.m., Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church, Flemingsburg Interment: Fleming County Cemetery, Flemingsburg, KY
