Leanna Mastin Staggs, age 76, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, December 10, 2020.
She was born February 28, 1944, in Maysville, Kentucky, the oldest child of the late Samuel and Mary Martha Mastin. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Dick" Staggs, and one brother, William Grant Mastin.
Leanna enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and especially her trips to the beach each summer with her daughter, son-in-law, and extended family. Leanna was a giving person with a big heart. She volunteered for the Rowan County Board of Education helping teachers prepare materials for their classrooms for the past several years. She also enjoyed volunteering at St. Claire Medical Center for many years.
Leanna is survived by her only child, Martha Shannon Thompson and husband Barry of Hillsboro, Kentucky. She is also survived by two brothers, Daniel (Pam) Mastin of Greenville, North Carolina, and Robert (Gail) Mastin of Springfield, Kentucky; one sister-in-law, Karen Mastin of Edenton, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Three special survivors include the Victor children—David, Elizabeth, and Luke—whom she referred to as family.
Private funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Pastor Greg Hignite and Brother Joe Cline and his wife Robyn officiating. The funeral service will be livestreamed beginning at 2:00 p.m. Saturday on the Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Facebook page. Private burial will be in Lee Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Luke Victor, Robbie Dials, Elwood Caudill, Austin Whittaker, Jordan Whittaker, Jacob Carpenter, Scott Poage, and Brian Johnson.
