Larry Earl McRoberts, 55, of State Highway 174, Olive Hill, Kentucky, nicknamed by his friends, -Lawnmower Larry, Lawnmower Head,- passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at his residence. Born September 2, 1952, in Hamilton, Ohio, he is the son of Everett and Madeline Viars McRoberts, of Olive Hill, Kentucky. He is also survived by his wife, Teresa Griffey McRoberts; two sons, Anthony Lee and Rachelle McRoberts of California and Brian Neil and Christine McRoberts of Grayson, Kentucky; two daughters, Sharon Suttles and her children--his granddaughter Leighann Stamper and his grandson the late Landen Stamper, who preceded him in death on February 5, 2008, all of Morehead, Kentucky, and Stephanie Adkins of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and her children--his grandson Dakota Adkins and granddaughter Kirsten Adkins of Grayson, Kentucky. Also surviving are one brother, Larry Randall and Stephanie McRoberts of Olive Hill, Kentucky; three sisters, Judy May and Jim Schumacher of Middletown, Ohio, Linda Lee Miller and Jeff Hicks of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Kathy Diana James and Nick Schatz of Morehead, Kentucky; grandchildren, Colton McRoberts, Lowgan McRoberts, Trent McRoberts of California, Connor McRoberts of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Katherine and Samantha McRoberts of Grayson, Kentucky; two Goddaughters, Rachel and Kimberly Collins of Morehead, Kentucky; and special best friend, Wendell Collins of Farmers, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Raymond Lee McRoberts of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and three children. Larry was a former employee of Big 4 Lumber Company where he was a mechanic specializing in small engine and lawn mower repair. He enjoyed collecting toy cars and had a large collection of Hot Wheels and antique toys. Larry served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal 2/60 Device, Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars, and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tim Bailey and Brother Tom James officiating. Burial will follow in the Vanhoose Cemetery on Garvin Ridge Road in Olive Hill with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be his friends and former coworkers at Big 4 Lumber. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
