Larry Bruce Elam, 57, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2010, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born July 12, 1952, in Richmond, Kentucky, and was the son of Irene Jackson Elam of Morehead, Kentucky, and the late Joseph Vaughn (Joe) Elam. In addition to his mother, Larry is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Sandra K. -Sandy- Sams Elam; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bradley Bruce -Brad- and Jennifer Elam of Columbus, Ohio, and Eric Joseph and Cassey Elam of St. Louis, Missouri; one daughter and son-in-law, Mackenzie Lea and Jimmy Hill of Lancaster, Kentucky; and eight grandchildren, Braden, Jacob, Marissa, Alexis, Joe, and Sam Elam and Jackson and Blake Hill. Other survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, William Vaughn and Connie Elam of Dallas, Texas, and Roger Bryant and Kathy Elam of Dayton, Ohio; one sister and brother-in-law, Belinda Elaine and John Stallard of Englewood, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Larry was a builder and union carpenter at various companies in Dayton, Ohio. He was also a self-employed contractor and property manager. He enjoyed storytelling, playing the guitar, fishing, and boating. Larry was a devoted son, husband, brother, dad, and papaw who enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Starcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Jackson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hill, John Stallard, William Bryant Elam, Clark Mullins, Cliff Mullins, Matt Miller, John McLaughlin, and Gary Sams.
