Obituary

Kendel C. Pelfrey, age 78, of Camargo-Levee Road, Jeffersonville, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born October 7, 1931, in Montgomery County, Kentucky, son of the late Irvine and Norma Wilson Pelfrey. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Riffe Pelfrey; one brother, Glenwood Pelfrey; and one grandson, Stephen Congleton. Kendel is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nelda Murphy Pelfrey; two sons, Kerry (Melanie) Pelfrey of Jeffersonville, Kentucky, and Kenny Wayne (Connie) Pelfrey of Van Lear, Kentucky; two daughters, Diana (Bill) Miller of Richmond, Kentucky, and Jeannie (Rolfe) Kruckas of Lexington, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Jaylena Manley, Scott Congleton, Tasha Stewart, Benjamin Congleton, Jason Pelfrey, and Tyler Pelfrey; and eight great grandchildren. Other survivors include five brothers, Seldon (Margie) Pelfrey of Jeffersonville, Kentucky, Gerald (Cara) Pelfrey of Camargo, Kentucky, Charles (Joyce) Pelfrey of Stanton, Kentucky, Dale (Nancy) Pelfrey of Owingsville, Kentucky, and Douglas Pelfrey of Georgia; and three sisters, Arnis Bailey of Winchester, Kentucky, Sharon (Larry) Hatton of Stanton, Kentucky, Linda (Ted) Bilbrey of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Mr. Pelfrey was a farmer, an Army veteran of the Korean War, and member of Camargo First Church of God. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Camargo First Church of God with Brother Stanley Hutchinson and Brother Frank Curtis officiating. Interment will follow in Machpelah Cemetery. Pallbearers: Walker Hasty, F. M. Sponcil, Tom Daniel, James Hendrix, Oliver Willoughby, and Michael Cockrell. Honorary pallbearers: Retta Hasty, Patsy Sponcil, Jean Daniel, Rose Hendrix, and Mary Willoughby. Visitation for Mr. Pelfrey will be from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Camargo First Church of God. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope First Church of God, 10246 Hope Means Road, Hope, KY 40334 or Camargo First Church of God, 4322 Camargo Road, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353. Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky. Visitation: Tuesday, April 13, 2010, from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. (Camargo First Church of God) Funeral: Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at 11 a.m. (church) Interment: Machpelah Cemetery, Mt. Sterling
