Keith L. McGuire, age 84, of Morehead, KY, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

Born April 10, 1940, in Smile, KY, he was a son of Julia (Fryman) McGuire and Lurman McGuire. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Gale McGuire, Joy (McGuire) Arnett, Rockne McGuire, Dean McGuire, Carol McGuire, and Bucky McGuire.

Keith is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Alene McGuire, whom he married on September 8, 1959, in Colorado Springs, CO; two daughters, Kim (Ed) Smart of Ormond Beach, FL, and Allison (Mike) Mathews of Morehead, KY; four grandchildren, Kip (Sara) Gibson, Mackenzie (Chris) Ball, Emma Li Mathews, and M'Shae Mathews; and two great-grandchildren, Ro Gibson and Wes Ball.

Also surviving are two sisters, Lois Cooper (McGuire) of West Chester, OH, and Marjorie Menche (McGuire) of Fairfield, OH, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

A U.S. Army veteran, he honorably served in the Military Police (1957 – 1960) and inactive duty (1960 – 1963). He served as Commander of American Legion Post 126. To show his utmost respect and reverence for fellow veterans who passed, Keith served on the Post 126 Funeral Detail team for twenty years.

Keith earned his education degree from Morehead State University (Class of 1976) through the GI Bill. As a third-generation teacher, he began his career at Fox Valley Elementary in Fleming County, KY. Through the years, Keith enjoyed keeping up with former students and sharing memories.

Above all, he valued his family. Keith enjoyed planning and attending the bi-annual Fryman reunions and devoted much of his time to the Fryman Cemetery's upkeep and beautification, which is located on the hill that overlooks his birthplace and childhood home.

Full military honors will be presented at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, by Morehead American Legion Post 126 at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY. Burial will follow at the Fryman Cemetery.
