Kathryn Dickerson Barnes, age 72, of Bramblewood Lane, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born September 5, 1940, in Sandy Hook, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Linza Dickerson and Mable Boggs Dickerson Lewis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Billy Todd Barnes on May 11, 2001. Kathy is survived by her husband of 52 years, Billy Joe Barnes, whom she married December 31, 1960; one son, Gregory Barnes and wife Carolyn of Morehead, Kentucky; two daughters, Sharon Prewitt and husband Greg of Hillsboro, Kentucky, and Heather Whitt and husband Rodney of Morehead, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Lindsey Pettit and husband Gary, Amanda Brown and husband Matt, Jonathan Prewitt, Sarah Whitt, and Tayler Whitt; and three great grandchildren, Maggie Pettit, Jonah Pettit, and Emma Mae Brown. Other survivors include one sister and brother-in-law, Garnetta and Willie Pennington of Morehead, Kentucky; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene and Sheila Dickerson and Austin and Kay Dickerson, all of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends. Kathy was a hairdresser for 43 years and owned and operated Kathy's Beauty Shop in Morehead for many years. In addition to enjoying her career and her many clients, she loved her Mt. Pisgah Church family, where she was a longtime member, and faithfully attended services when she was able. Kathy's greatest joy came from her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who was always available to take care of every need for everyone. She was greatly loved by all and will be sadly missed. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. James DeAtley and Rev. David Crouch officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery. Pallbearers: Gary Pettit, Matt Brown, Scott Dickerson, Lee Pennington, Randy Flanery, Jarrod Flanery, Rodney Whitt, Greg Prewitt, Tayler Whitt and Jonathan Prewitt. Honorary Pallbearers: Austin Dickerson, Eugene Dickerson, Willie Pennington, and all the ladies at Mt. Pisgah Church. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead, Kentucky.
