Obituary

Julius Grant Szabo, age 72, of Ridgeway Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at his residence. Born September 7, 1940, in Romulus, Michigan, he was a son of the late Julius and Virgilene Van Aernum Szabo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Grant and Gladys Van Aernum, and one step son, Timothy Bear. Julius is survived by his wife, Charlene Conn Szabo, whom he married March 7, 1992; five sons, Jefferey Szabo and Michael (Tonia) Szabo of Wayne, Michigan, Rodney Szabo of California, Ronnie Szabo of Prescott, Arizona, and Shawn Bear of Morehead, Kentucky; two step sons, Anthony (Carrie) Bear and Michael Bear, of Elliott County, Kentucky; 15 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. Other survivors include two sisters, Betty Ann (Richard) Barker of Petoskey, Michigan, and Karen Zavodsky of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; niece, Julie (Robert) Guerreso of Duluth, Georgia; nephews, Richard (Barbara) Barker of Howell, Michigan, John (Dawn) Barker of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Richard (Kim) Zavodsky of Florida, and Jason Zavodsky of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; extended family members; and friends. A 1958 graduate of Romulus High School, Julius served in the U.S. Army, retired from Ford Motor Company after working 30 years as an engineer, and enjoyed going to car shows following his retirement. He was of the Protestant faith. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Louie Harris officiating and military honors by Morehead American Legion Post 126. Visitation is after 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with church services to be held at 7 p.m. Visitation is also anytime on Friday, August 30, 2013, and prior to the funeral on Saturday. Visitation: Thursday, August 29, 2013, after 4 p.m. and anytime Friday, August 30, 2013 Funeral: Saturday, August 31, 2013, at 11 a.m.
