Judy Diane Thompson Bowling, age 67, of Maher Drive, Morehead, passed away Friday, January 9, 2015, at Elliott Nursing and Rehab Center in Sandy Hook. Born August 29, 1947, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest 'Crow' and Edna Horton Thompson. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Yvonne Vires and Patricia Thompson; and two brothers, Wayne Thompson and Ernest Vernon Thompson. Judy is survived by her husband of 49 years, Curtis R. Bowling; one son, Keith Ray Bowling and two daughters, Krystal Bowling (Jamie Dehart) and Karla Bowling, all of Morehead; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews; extended family members; and many friends. In addition to being a homemaker, Judy was a former food service employee in the Adron Doran University Center Cafeteria at Morehead State University and had also worked at Cowden's in Olive Hill. She enjoyed writing songs for church, listening to Bluegrass gospel music, and watching Little House on the Prairie and Doctor Quinn. When she was younger, she spent a lot of time following Princes Diana, her role model. Judy's greatest joy came when spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren who loved Mamaw singing to them and coloring beautiful pictures. She will be lovingly remembered. Judy was a longtime member of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Don Rivers officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.
