Joye Catherine Stephens White, age 77, of Morehead Road, Wallingford, Kentucky, formerly of Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2010, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born October 31, 1932, in Carter County, Kentucky, Joye was the daughter of the late Harrison and Ruth Lee Stephens. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dexter Stephens and Arnold Stephens, and two sisters, Jerry Hoover and Dorothy Yeager. Joye is survived by her husband of 57 years, Edsel R. White, Sr., whom she married May 21, 1953; four sons, Johnnie Schinsky and wife Freda of Bear Creek, North Carolina, Edsel White Jr., and wife Linda, Timothy White and wife Janet, and Allie White and wife Cathy, all of Clearfield, Kentucky; one daughter, Teketa Upchurch and husband Billy of Allons, Tennessee; one brother, Delsie Stevens and wife Betty of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; one sister, Wilma Christy and husband Bob of Russellville, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Mrs. White was a longtime employee of Jerry-s Restaurant, Eagles Nest and Cowden Mfg., all in Morehead, Kentucky, and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, September 4, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Paris Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in Clearfield Cemetery. Pallbearers: Allie White, Jr., Dustin White, Jason Upchurch, Harley Upchurch, Bryan Owens, Joe Holbrook.
