Joyce Alene Salyers Adkins, age 82, of Halifax Drive, Lexington, Kentucky, passed away Monday, March 3, 2008, at her residence. She was born March 16, 1925, in Carter County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Jane Mauk Salyers. She was also preceded in death by two half sisters, Shirley Price Fitch and Audrey Price, and two half brothers, Thestal Johnson and Othal Johnson. Her husband, Donald William Adkins, passed away May 30, 1973. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Gary and Mary Sue Reynolds Adkins of Elliottville, Kentucky, and Donald William Jr. and Peggy Lynn Maschino Adkins of Lexington, Kentucky; two daughters, Shirley Ann Owens and Janis Kay Owens, both of Lexington, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Mrs. Adkins was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gayle Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Bradley Cemetery in Carter County, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Roger C. Owens, Lloyd L. Owens, Kyle William Adkins, Donald William Adkins III, Brent Means, and Jerry Maschino. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
