Joyce Marie Ramey Smedley, age 78, of Clearfield, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at Life Care Center in Morehead. She was born March 7, 1940, in Menifee County and was the daughter of the late Morrow and Myrtle Conway Ramey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Smedley on June 12, 1986, and one brother, Walter Billy Ramey. Mrs. Smedley is survived by one daughter, Denice Bradley (Donnie); two sons, Terry Smedley (Becky) and Brian Smedley, all of Morehead; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Other survivors include four brothers, Stephen Ramey of Globe, Robert Ramey of Ripley, Ohio, Doug Ramey of West Liberty, and Eddie Ramey of Morehead; two sisters, Cindy Rybicki of Ormond Beach, Florida, and Faye Thompson of Morehead; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to being a homemaker, Joyce was a food service employee in the Alumni Tower Cafeteria at Morehead State University for 20 years. She was a member of Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God and volunteered with the Foster Grandparents Program in Fleming County and St. Claire Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Ison officiating. Burial will follow in Clearfield Cemetery.
