Joyce Ann Hitch Pennington, age 54, of Big Brushy Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at her residence. She was born January 9, 1959, a daughter of the late Chester and Goldie Trent Hitch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Glennis 'Bill' Hitch in 1988. Joyce is survived by her husband, Stephan Pennington, whom she married December 15, 1990; one son, Ashton Pennington at home; two stepsons, Waylon Pennington and his wife Melissa, serving in the U.S. Air Force in England, and Shane Pennington of Morehead, Kentucky; and two grandchildren, Sara Mae Pennington and Kelsie Ann Pennington. Other survivors include four sisters, Vivian Mae Adkins (wife of the late Claude Adkins) of Morehead, Kentucky, Evalena and Don Wendell Horton of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, Shirley Jones of Dayton, Ohio, Karen 'Gay' Dalton of Morehead, Kentucky; six brothers, James and Judy Hitch, Chester, Jr. and Ava Hitch, Michael Hitch (husband of the late Mary Hitch), Charles 'Tony' and Diana Hitch, David and Fhonda Hitch, Darrell and Rhonda Hitch, all of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Joyce graduated from Elliott County High School in 1976 and attended Morehead State University. She was a homemaker who enjoyed yard work, gardening, and reading, especially the Bible. She also loved being with her family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Winston McClurg and Brother Joe Cline officiating. Burial will be the Hitch Cemetery in Elliott County. Joyce's brothers will serve as pallbearers.
