Joyce Ellen
(Black) Caskey
Apr 5, 1944 — Jun 7, 2023
Joyce Ellen Black Caskey, age 79, of East Cardinal Lane, Clearfield, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at her residence.
Born April 5, 1944, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Berlin Black and Garnette Opal Lambert Black. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Shirlene Black, Edith Mabry, and Geneva Clinger.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 61 years, Bobby Caskey, whom she married on January 7, 1962; three sons, Bobby Lee Caskey (Tammy) of West Liberty, Christopher Caskey of Lexington, and David Matthew Caskey (Wendy) of Morehead; one daughter, Cindy Ellen Caskey (Rose) of Lexington; eight grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
Other survivors include two sisters, Darlene Spence of Clearfield and Mary Jewel Eversberg of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; one brother, Berlin Black, Jr. of Clearfield; a host of nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.
Joyce enjoyed working and staying busy. She and Bobby met at her parents' Fishing Lake where she weighed the fish, served food, and handled the money. She never saw a stranger and enjoyed being an Avon representative, working in the deli at Kroger's, being a sales clerk at Lerner's Department Store, and working at Bluegrass Manufacturing, all in Lexington. Most of all, she was a great homemaker and a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed singing and dancing, doing housework, preparing special meals including homemade desserts, and making special memories with the family, especially her children and grandchildren. One of her favorite activities was spoiling her cats, especially Farah, who was her special feline for 17 years. Joyce will be greatly missed and remembered with love.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Ashley Kidd officiating. Burial will follow in the McClain–Arnold Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
