Johnny Robert Watkins, 65, of Greenbend Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born October 9, 1946, in Morgan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Seldon and Lucy Lewis Watkins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Clay Watkins, Junior Watkins, Nellie Fox, Elma Watkins, and Leverne Watkins. Johnny is survived by his wife, Betty Carolyn Howard Watkins, whom he married June 4, 1971; one son, John Kevin Watkins and wife Tammy of Morehead, Kentucky; one daughter, Jennifer Robin Thacker and husband Douglas of Pikeville, Kentucky; and six grandchildren, Jonathan Kyle Watkins, Justin Kole Watkins, Jasmin Brooke McMillan, Bethany Suzanne Thacker, Roy Douglas Thacker, Jr., and Michael Dylan Chase Thacker. Also surviving are five sisters, Etta Jane Henry of Greentown, Indiana; Minnie Mae Patterson and Bo of Dayton, Ohio, Judy Gaston and Ed of New Castle, Pennsylvania, Joy Chappell and Hardie of Stinnett, Kentucky, and Carmie Lewis and Phil of West Liberty, Kentucky. Johnny was a former euclid driver for Collins and May and Ken-Mor Stone. Johnny was a man that loved his family and enjoyed being with his friends. He always had a kind heart and a helpful hand. He will be missed by many, but his smile will live in our hearts forever. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Donald Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Watkins Cemetery in Morgan County, Kentucky. Pallbearers: Nick Sorrell, Dougie Howard, Ty Howard, Scotty Patterson, Jason Lewis, Keith Fox, Joey James, and Chris Sorrell.
