Johnathan David
Hudson
Dec 13, 1966 — Mar 31, 2025
Johnathan David Hudson, age 58, of Morehead, Kentucky, was called home to Heaven to join his mother and sister, Monday, March 31, 2025, at UK-St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Johnathan was born December 13, 1966, to Marshall (M.A.) and Helen Hudson of Erwin, North Carolina.
Johnathan was a hard worker and worked various jobs but was most known in North Carolina for his tree cutting. After Hurricane Fran's destruction in North Carolina, Jonathan and W.A. Lee developed a tree cutting business. People would travel from all over to park along the side of the road to be entertained by Johnathan swinging from tree to tree. His last employment was with Walker Construction in Kentucky, where he enjoyed running heavy machinery on the black top crew. He was also known as John or Johnboy.
He is survived by his father, Marshall (M.A.) Hudson; a son, Johnathan Hudson, Jr.; a grandson, Raylan Hudson; his wife, Karen Hudson; three stepchildren; and several step grandchildren.
Other survivors include a brother, Marshall Hudson; six nieces, Jessica Sumner (Kevin), Olivia Clar, Fallon Hamilton (Keith), Lauren Hudson (Jamie), Kaley Hudson, and Madison Pendergrass; two nephews, Joshua Hudson and Zachary Hudson; eight great nieces, Hannah Clark, Mackenzie Reese, Madison Reese, Carlee Hamilton, Karsyn Clark, Elizabeth Sumner, Skylar Hamilton, and Kinsley Strickland; and four great nephews, Dylan Coleman, Wyatt Coleman, Jaxon Coleman, and Stetson Allen. He is also survived by his former wife of 25 years, Debbie Hudson; a stepdaughter, Nichole Cline; a stepson, Dustin Hale; two step grandsons, Ayden Smedley and Noah Hale; and other extended family and friends.
Johnathan was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Hudson; a sister, Patricia Williams, maternal grandparents, Lee and Josephine Dennis; paternal grandparents, Tate and Nettie Hudson, all of Erwin, North Carolina, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins.
While visiting his family in North Carolina in 2023, Johnathan accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. It gives us comfort knowing that he has made it home and reunited with his mother and sister. Johnathan will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
A celebration of Johnathan's life will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Erwin Church of God Prophecy, 105 2nd Street, Erwin, NC 28339. View or sign guestbook at www.northcuttandson.com
