John Wayne Wolfenbarger, age 65, of Jackson Drive, Morehead, KY, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.

He was born November 10, 1958, in Morgan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Walter Winford Wolfenbarger and Mary Ival Gillium Wolfenbarger.

John is survived by his loving wife, Theresa Pennington Wolfenbarger, whom he married November 29, 1980; two brothers, Frank (Melinda) Wolfenbarger of Ashland, Kentucky, and David (Debbie) Wolfenbarger of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; one sister, Kay (Harold) Coy of Cynthiana, Kentucky; a host of nieces and nephews; a special sister-in-law, Drema Crum, and other extended family members and friends.

John was a mechanic and wrecker operator for 37 years at Fannin's Ashland in Morehead.  He greatly enjoyed the outdoors and loved fishing, hunting, camping, 4-wheeling, and playing horseshoes. He also loved spending time with family and attending family reunions—nearly always he was the first one to arrive and the last one to leave. He will be greatly missed and always remembered with love.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Chapel with Brother Bruce Davis and special niece Shena Skaggs officiating.

Burial will follow at the Horton Cemetery, 100 Horton Cemetery Road, Sandy Hook, KY 41171.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
