Obituary

John Allen Stewart, age 59, of Bluestone Road, Morehead, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021, at his residence.

Born August 30, 1962, in Middletown, Ohio, he is the son of Larry Stewart and Ruth Wells Stewart of Lexington.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Melissa Epperhart Stewart, whom he married August 15, 1990; two sons, Chris Adkins (Staci Humphreys) of Sneedville, Tennessee, and Jared (Olivia) Stewart of Lancaster, Kentucky; one daughter, Amber (Taylor) Adams of Morehead, Kentucky; and two grandchildren, Van Gibson and Jonah Stewart.

Other survivors include one brother, Scott (Debbie) Stewart of Akron, Indiana; one sister, Stephanie (Mike) Engel of Asheville, North Carolina; numerous aunts and uncles; and a special cat, Rastus.

John enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 19 and retired from the Army National Guard with 37 years of service. He was a Christian and was baptized when he was a teenager.  John loved nature, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid U. K. basketball fan.

John was a wonderful father and since this past May was a proud grandfather. He loved his children and will be greatly missed.

Services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, September 2, 2021, in the Committal Shelter at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, 6980 Danville Road, Nicholasville, KY 40356. Full military honors will be conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
