John Bennett Sanders, age 85, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky. Born January 1, 1925, at McCarr, Kentucky, in Pike County, he was the son of the late H. T. and Ida Wolford Sanders. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; one sister; and three sons, Thomas Martin Sanders in 1949, Ralph Bennett Sanders in 1962, and Mike Sanders in 2003. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patsy Tabor Sanders, whom he wed November 18, 1948; one daughter, Marilyn -Susie- Mayhorn and husband Steve of Morehead, Kentucky; one daughter-in-law, Mike-s wife, Jackie Sanders of Knoxville, Tennessee; two sisters, Nettie Mounts of Lexington, Kentucky and Maggie Francis of Columbus, Ohio; 6 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. Mr. Sanders was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a retired member of the United Mine Workers of America in Pike County. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Shawn Hatton and Steve Mayhorn officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky.
