John D. Ramey, Jr., age 59, of Independence, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Mercy West Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He was born September 8, 1964, in Miami, Florida, and was a son of the late John D. Ramey, Sr. and Barbara Anne Reed Ramey.   Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his dear friend and goddaughter's father, Joe Sublett, and his beloved dog, Trigger.

John is survived by one daughter, Heather Ramey of Harlan; Heather's mother, Carolyn Garner of Mt. Sterling; two aunts, Ella Thurston of Louisville and Edith Roe of Lexington; a goddaughter, Olivia Ratliff; special friends, Kent Miles and Russell Williams; and other extended family.

He was a retired chemist for Northern Kentucky Water District. John enjoyed fishing, collecting trains, and painting dungeon and dragon figurines. He will be remembered with love and greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Jim Brandenburg officiating.  Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
