Obituary

John David 'Johnny' DeBord, age 69, of Lower Licking Road, Morehead, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at his home. Born July 22, 1945, in Fleming County, he was the son of the late John Bunyan 'J. B.' DeBord and Emma Pearl Kissick DeBord Burke. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Barry Bryan Burke, and stepfather, Cleo Burke. Johnny is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol McCray DeBord, whom he married December 6, 1968; three sons, John David DeBord Jr. and wife Tammy of Morehead, Christopher James DeBord and wife Tara of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Eric Wayne DeBord of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren, Payton, Jarrett, Mackenzie, and James DeBord; and three step grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Lillian Ruth Fawns of Flemingsburg, Vivian Kay Kemp and husband Robert of Ewing, and Linda Sue Gray and husband Riley of Westfield, Indiana; one brother, Larry Gale Burke of Flemingsburg; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Johnny was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was the co- owner of Journeyman Construction and an accomplished home builder. Johnny was a hard-working and brilliant craftsman who gave so much to others. He enjoyed restoring International Harvester Tractors and spending time with his family. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014, at the Hutton Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Engle and Pastor Jeff Fannin officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be Darrin Fawns, Bryan Burke, Marty Kemp, Randy Kemp, Bobby Kemp, and Nathan Warder. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Cooper, Nish Caldwell, Dale Duncan, Roger Elkhorn, Woody Graham, and David Jent. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, at Hutton Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Visitation: Friday, July 25, 2014, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 3 p.m. Interment: Fairview Cemetery
