John F. Hook, age 91, of Highway 801 South, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at his residence. Born December 25, 1923, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Charles Walter Hook and Nancy Susan Boggs Hook. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Bert, Glenn, Clarence, and Hayward Hook; and three sisters, Esther Ellington, Carrie Strong, and Virginia Grippen. John is survived by one brother, Edward Hook of St. Paul, Minnesota; one sister, Edna Hardman of Dayton, Ohio; sister-in-law, June Hook of Morehead; special niece and nephew, Jenny and Dan Hook of Morehead, and their children Haydan, Rylee, and Sophia Hook; several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. John was a retired farmer and enjoyed gardening, reading, caring for his animals, and spending time with his family. Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2015, at New Alfrey Cemetery with Brother Roger Ball officiating. There is no visitation. Pallbearers will be Daniel Hook, Dwayne Brewer, Jeff Cogswell, Sam Lemay, Jason Ferguson, and Braxton Ferguson.
