Obituary

John Joseph Hawkins, age 29, of Dawson Way, Clearfield, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington. He was born June 16, 1988, in Watkins Glen, New York, a son of Patricia Clugstone Hunt of New Port Richey, Florida, and the late Jay Bishop Hawkins. In addition to his mother, John is also survived by two sisters, Amanda Bratcher of Elizabethtown and Jennifer Hunt of Russellville; one brother, Stephen Hawkins of Hodgenville; three nieces, Raiven Elexes Bratcher, Lainey Nikole Bratcher and Emma-Grace Devers; two nephews, Austyn Michael Jay Bratcher and Taylor Aubrey; extended family; and friends. John was an active member of the Owingsville Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a Children's Services Service Coordinator for Comprehend, Inc. He cared deeply about supporting youth and pursuing education. John completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Virginia's College at Wise and was working towards a Master of Arts degree at Morehead State University. John was proud to call Morehead home and had a wide range of interests including reading and a love of cats. He especially loved interacting with friends. His family and friends will miss his laughter and friendly banter. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, October 23, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Memorial Chapel with Bishop Jason Purdy presiding. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery. Pallbearers: Stephen Hawkins, Michael Bratcher, Taylor Aubrey, Charlie Tackett, Kris Watson, and Tyson Arnold Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
