John Carter, age 49, of Concord, North Carolina, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017, at his residence. Born November 19, 1967, in Morehead, John is the son of Dean Carter of Concord, North Carolina, and Roger Carter of West Liberty. After spending his early years in Morehead, the family moved to West Liberty, where John played football and graduated from Morgan County High School in 1985. He was an avid NASCAR/Jimmy Johnson fan and a member of Pipefitters Union 798. In addition to his parents, John is survived by one daughter, Shelby Carter of Athens, Ohio; one son, Chasz Carter of Okeechobee, Florida; one grandson, Izeck Carter; one sister, Milly Carter of Concord; one brother, Troy Carter and wife Shamarie and nieces Tori and Taryn, all of Georgetown; other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his brother, Lance Carter, and grandparents, Lyde and Bill Carter and J.C. and Celia Wells. Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Private interment will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with David Wells presiding.
