Joeynell Vaznelis Darnell, age 69, passed away unexpectantly at her home in Long Beach, California, on Friday, April 28, 2023. She has now been freed from the earthly bonds of suffering and gone home to be with God. She was a beloved granddaughter, daughter, sister, and mother.

Joeynell was born in Columbus, Ohio, on July 7, 1953. She spent her childhood in Toledo, Ohio, and graduated from Maumee High School in Maumee, Ohio. Joeynell soon moved to Long Beach, California, where she lived out the rest of her life here on earth.

Joeynell "Joey" was preceded in death by her loving grandparents, Linus and Jesse Mae Fair, and her parents, Ben and Ruth Fair Vaznelis.

Survivors include her three children, Nathan Thomas, Ashley Faye, and Justin Robert, all living in Long Beach, California. Joey also leaves behind her three sisters, Antonina Vaznelis, Feyadora Vaznelis Tower, and Carlvala Vaznelis Fukuzawa, and her brother, Albin Edward Vaznelis, plus her Aunt Jeanie Fair Fieler, numerous cousins, and friends.

Many memories remain with us regarding Joey. She is missed and will be remembered forever in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals (400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351) on October 20, 2023. The visitation will start at 3:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Joey's Life at 4:00 p.m. given by her family.

Joeynell Vaznelis Darnell's interment will be at Lee Cemetery in Morehead, Kentucky.
