Joe Douglas Johnson, age 60, of Owingsville, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at his home after a brief illness. He was born July 1, 1952, at Booneville, Kentucky, in Owsley County, a son of the late Bedford and Crystal McIntosh Johnson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Trent. Joe is survived by one son, Joseph 'Joey' Johnson of Inverness, Florida; two daughters, Amy Jo Johnson and Kelli Johnson, both of Inverness, Florida; five brothers, B. J. Johnson, Earl Johnson, Ed Johnson, Wally Johnson, and Sam Johnson and seven sisters, Maggie Clay, Liz Wilson, Susie Young, Bonnie Barnett, Wanda Dieffenbach, Sharon Wilson, and Christine Triplett, all of Montgomery County, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews. Joe was a retired district manager for Modern Woodmen of America Insurance Company and was a member of the Jeffersonville Assembly of God. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the Jeffersonville Assembly of God with Robbie Conn, Tommy Evans, and Lowell Rice officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson-Chambers Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Glen Spencer, Anthony Henderson, Richard Henderson, Andy Barr, Steve Willoughby, and Jason Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be the ladies from Family Discount Drug in Owingsville. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Jeffersonville Assembly of God, 7220 Main Street, Jeffersonville, KY 40337. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Sterling - Montgomery County Parks, Play Ground Equipment Fund, P. O. Box 688, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353. Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky.
