Joe Eugene "Gene" Netherly, age 69, of Sharkey Road, Morehead, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021.

Born October 11, 1951, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Herbert Joe Netherly and Georgia Mae Pence Netherly Stamper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Austin Tanner Netherly.

Gene is survived by two daughters, Melissa Martt of Morehead and Tyra Davenport of Maysville; two sisters, Janet Netherly Egan (and husband Steve) of Hillsboro and Georgetta Netherly Sorrell (and husband Kenneth) of Salt Lick; five grandsons; one granddaughter; four great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.

He was a self-employed carpenter and farm laborer.  Gene enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, telling stories, and spending time with family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jack Hinton officiating.  Burial will follow in Pence Cemetery.

Pallbearers:   Waylon Glover, Junior Glover, Kody Netherly, Tyler Netherly, Jeff Quesinberry, and Steve Egan.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
