Jimmy Elwood Bowling, age 76, of Christy Creek Road, Morehead, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington. Born July 22, 1940, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Noah Lee and Lillian Fultz Bowling. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant daughter; one grandson, Anthony Jones; five brothers, Jackie, Danny, Arthur, Elmer Ray, and Jerry Lee Bowling; and two sisters, Dorthy Marie Bowling Williams and Betty Adkins. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Patricia Withrow Bowling, whom he married September 16, 1959; two sons, David Bowling and wife Judy and J. R. Bowling, all of Morehead; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Other survivors include four brothers, Bill Bowling of Olive Hill, Curtis Bowling, Kenny Bowling, and Johnny "Bull" Bowling, all of Morehead; three sisters, Joyce Ballew of Burnsville, North Carolina, Mary Murphy of Belleville, Michigan, and Kay Keeton of Manitou Beach, Michigan; nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Jimmy was a farmer and former employee of Harold White Lumber Company. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle but most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Andy Lands and Pastor Roy Lands officiating. Burial will follow in the Bowling Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
