Jewell Belle Skaggs Boyd, 74, of Christy Creek Road, Morehead, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the Life Care Center in Morehead. She was born March 19, 1942, in Elliott County, a daughter of the late Merida and Bessie Ison Skaggs. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Linville and Edsel Skaggs. Mrs. Boyd is survived by her husband, Chester 'Shorty' Boyd, whom she married April 4, 1964; one son, Danny Boyd and his wife Risa of Morehead; two grandchildren, Hayley and Camron Boyd; and one brother, Dennis Skaggs of Chandler, Arizona. In 2003, Mrs. Boyd retired from Morehead State University after 27 years in the custodial area. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. A devout Christian, she had been a member of Beech Grove United Baptist Church in Isonville since 1969. She will be greatly missed by her family and dear friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Elder Darris Lewis and Elder David H. Wolfenbarger officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
